Early 20th Century Miao Baby Carrier

This hand-embroidered baby carrier was made by the Miao people of southwestern China. Unlike many carriers, it does not have straps; instead, it consists of a square textile with a narrower rectangular extension sewn to one side—likely intended as a head covering for the baby. Both sections are intricately embroidered with fine traditional designs, reflecting the exceptional craftsmanship of the Miao artisans.

The piece is in very good condition considering its age and use, with delicate embroidery that remains remarkably well-preserved.
